Bruce Rosenbaum is excited to give a behind-the-scenes glimpse into Steampunk history, philosophy, the collaborative process and will even share his secrets to branding and marketing success
Like many successful artists, Rosenbaum immerses his daily life and surroundings in his work – creating the Steampunk aesthetic by fusing history + art + technology. It’s a labor of love.
“It only took 15 years to become an overnight success,” Bruce jokes from his Steampunk Wonderland studio in Palmer, MA – a 19th Century New England church that he and wife Melanie converted into their home and gallery.
A place that is uniquely off the beaten path.
Enter Atlas Obscura, a leading online portal for the world’s most wonderous places and foods. With many travel plans altered and/or postponed between 2020 and 2022 due to the pandemic, the company pivoted some of its online content to provide in-depth exploration of interesting and quirky topics to travelers stuck at home.
Steampunk art and design turned out to be a perfect fit for this concept.
In this course, Bruce will begin by exploring the origins of Steampunk aesthetic and then show how it represents a framework that extends beyond the realm of art to encompass resilience, adaptive reuse and a means to collaborative and creative problem solving.
“Atlas Obscura’s mission is to inspire wonder and curiosity about the incredible world we all share. The online courses that we offer give participants the opportunity to dive into unique niche topics and to emerge with new skills, knowledge, connections, and perspectives,” said Zak Martellucci, Operations Manager. “Exploring Steampunk Art, will allow students to become familiar with the world of Steampunk as well as get a first-hand account of Bruce’s work and business, something not often shared with the public.”
The 4-part course will be presented live on Tuesday evenings from 7:30 to 9:00 PM EST. (Dec. 20, 2022; Jan. 3, 2023; Jan. 10, 2023, and Jan. 17, 2023). Get a complete course description and syllabus on the Atlas Obscura website.
Some readers who have seen Bruce speak in the past may find that this course begins in familiar territory in order for all attendees to have a foundational understanding of Steampunk art.
From there, Bruce intends to give valuable, practical details regarding the creative process – including the importance of Janusian thinking and how to collaborate more effectively with other creative minds to solve problems more effectively.
Prior to founding ModVic, LLC, Bruce grew a successful direct mail marketing firm called N2N Direct. By transitioning the knowledge gained from his marketing career and business operations experience, Bruce was able to pursue his
artistic interests by developing a formula for marketing, networking, and selling custom art projects to companies and private collectors alike.
For the first time ever, he is prepared to share this formula and demonstrate how it can be effectively applied to virtually any artistic or creative business model – Revealing something “new” with the right message, delivered at the right time, to the right person.
This course is guaranteed to provide educational insights for any creative entrepreneur!
