Challenge: Without modifying the I-beam artifact from the WTC towers, create an impactful memorial to the 498 first responders that died trying to save people trapped inside.
Solution: Using ‘negative’ space and shadows — positioning 2 spotlights in front of the I-beam that cast shadows on a bronze wall with the first responders names who died in the towers. At night, the gap on the wall is filled with two shadows from the I-beam that appear to be the twin towers.
