Pneumatic Steampunk Portal Links West Hartford’s “Skeleton Key” to the Spirit World

Mystery and suspense abound at Skeleton Key in Blue Back Square downtown West Hartford, CT – where customers are challenged to escape room adventure with puzzles, code breaking, and pattern seeking themes. A truly spellbinding atmosphere!

What better place for some Steampunk infused innovation and design?

Bruce Rosenbaum of ModVic LLC said he loved the imaginative idea of teams in pursuit of a cure, or a treasure, or a totem and then just before time is up, they may be given a clue from the spirits. What if we reimagined the waiting area, where teams could send messages to the spirit world and get answers before they begin their escape room adventure…?

The central piece, an Addressograph (dog tag maker) was perfect as a pneumatic vacuum system holder. The first pneumatic vacuum system was invented in the early 1800’s. However, it proved to be more novelty than practical until in 1836 the “capsule” was invented.

In 1854, a 220-yard pneumatic tube system was constructed between the London Stock Exchange and the offices of the Electric Telegraph Company – this became the gold standard of fast, efficient delivery of critical paper communications – today we have email, text, and Twitter.

Nowadays, pneumatic tubes are most commonly used for bank drive thrus.

“Staff and customer’s alike, LOVE Pneuman with all our hearts,” says Leanne Brennan of Skeleton Key West Hartford. He is the only pneumatic tube in Connecticut with a sassy personality and a connection to the Spirit World.

You ask, and he shall answer! Check out this video of Pneuman in action.
